LandNavigation.org

I got a comment yesterday from Jimmy D on this post with a link to LandNavigation.org and I thought I'd give it a look.

The site offers free downloadable lessons (20 in all) plus exams which cover the material. They're available in both PowerPoint and PDF format.

I randomly selected a lesson (Module 11 in PDF) and read through it. I think it's fantastically done and would encourage you to give it a look.

I can't imagine many land navigation "experts" who couldn't take something away from these lessons.

Thanks for the link Jimmy D.

Thanks for reading,

B

That is an awesome website. I prefer the Cammenga military compass over any other. It is really bulletproof.

Bulletproof is an important feature in a compass when you've got a four year old who wants to learn about land navigation. :)

My Cammenga has been tossed across the house and across the yard more times than I'd care to count.

I tend to carry something a bit lighter but may go back to the Cammenga after checking out the site.

Thanks for your comment,

Will there be any Land Navigation training, using the training materials from the landnavigation.org website?

There certainly could be some training using the lessons from the site.

Let me drop them an email and see if we can work out something.

Thanks for the idea.
