AktoMan's on the move

I'm having a hard time understanding some of the terminology (kists, merks, etc.) but AktoMan's been on the Southern Upland Way for a while now on his way across Scotland.

Check out his regular updates.

Sorry for the hard time understanding the jargon, but on the Southern Upland Way, they have hidden treasure. True. Details at:
http://www.bordersculptors.org/docs/index.htm

In 13 'kists' (sculpted and concealed chests) along the Way, there are 'merks' (metal sovereign coins). A metal plate marked 'ultreia', in Latin, shows you that you are in the region of a kist an need to keep your eyes open.

I think it a great scheme, as I was very alert during more of the walk. Also a good talking point for walkers, and nice, free memories.

I missed 3 at the beginning, as I had failed to notice the 'ultreia' marks; later I found 3 kists were empty; so only have 7 merks. I intend framing them. I've also informed the merk-maker of the empty kists, and also congratulated him on his wonderful idea.

They make frequent appearances in my YouTube videos, and were a highlight of many a walking day.
